How to Reset Your Life (and build a creative aesthetic one)

I’m slightly obsessed with lifestyle design. Curating the context in your life to match the ideal you have in your mind? I’m in.

But before designing that ideal life, it helps to step back and unplug.

I’m a nomadic artist obsessed with design and aesthetics. So this is my guide on how to reset your life (and build an aesthetic, creative nomadic one).

Of course, you can use the ideas here to reset and rebuild any lifestyle you want. But I’m using my own experiences here.

Alright, let’s do this dang thing.

    Why Reset Your Life?

I think it’s rad to review your life every once in a while—even if things are going pretty good.

You don’t always need a reason for a little reset.

But usually, we reassess things when we’re feeling stuck or not stoked about the way things are going.

I recently did a pretty major reset.

I was going down a specific path for over 5 years—working with the same clients, dealing with the same projects, living the same lifestyle.

It served its purpose (no regrets over here), but my growth plateaued and I felt stagnant, unfulfilled and slightly annoyed.

So I did a total reboot: new projects, new work, new focus, new me.

This website was part of that reset. I’ve been completely rebranding and revamping all my creative projects.

And honestly, it’s been super fun.

So if you’re feeling like you need a reset, try to have fun with it too.

    Identify the Pain Points

Pain points aren’t necessarily urgent. They’re pretty much anything you’re not stoked on.

So which parts of your life do you want to reset? And how come?

For example, maybe you don’t like the clothes you wear. But you keep buying the same outfits because that’s what people expect from you and it matches the personality and identity you co-created with (or were given by) society and your upbringing.

Simply changing your wardrobe (and dressing authentically) is a powerful micro-reset. And much easier than, say, quitting your job to move halfway across the world (which I’m not I’m against either).

The point is this: big or tiny, just get started and build momentum.

    Don’t Settle—Be Selfish

I fell into a habit of constantly needing to reset my life. The main reason? I kept playing small and settling, not believing that I could achieve (or deserved) the big ambitious stuff.

That’s bs though. Get after the big stuff.

    Be selfish.

Live in clouds and shoot for stars.

There’s a reason you’re doing a life reset. Perhaps you didn’t let yourself get after the pipe dreams before and now you feel unfulfilled (or worse, regretful).

It’s better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all.

Even if you only reach half your dream (whatever that means), that’s still awesome and fulfilling.

    Create A New Identity

I’ve realized that my biggest goals require a new identity. Or at least, I still have limiting beliefs that need to be resolved before I can fully embody who I want to be.

The quickest path to solving these lingering limiting thoughts is to craft a new identity and simply step into that life.

We’re getting into manifestation territory here. But it doesn’t need to be woo.

Creating an alter ego is a solid starting point. It’s also a popular strategy for artists, musicians and entrepreneurs.

You essentially create the identity of the ideal version (or character) of who you need to be to reach or live the life you want.

Have fun with this and be creative.

    Be A Life Creator

A good life reset is a creative act. It’s your chance to curate the exact context you want to experience in life.

You’re literally taking back control and being a life creator.

So think about everything that makes up your life’s canvas:

    • Your spaces

    • Your friends

    • Your passions

    • Your bookmarks

    • Your open tabs

    • Where you eat

    • Where you go

    • What you do

    • etcetera

Now curate all of that to create the context of your ideal life. If you really work on one area at a time, then a full life reset is definitely waiting for you.

That’s all I’ve got for you here though. Lemme know how you’re going to reset your life below.
