    What’s a Travel Vision Board?

A travel vision board is digital collage of images, quotes, sources and creative assets that represent your travel goals and projects. It’s your travel dream board — and we all have one (but usually, we just store it in our minds).

So a travel vision board makes things tangible. It’s an awesome way to save and organize your favorite ideas and images. This is perfect for motivation and add more intention to your traveling.

Why Create a Travel Vision Board?

Vision boards work. They act as a powerful tool for visualization and goal setting. Here are some specific reasons to create an aesthetic travel vision board:

    • Clarify what you want

    • Identify meaningful goals

    • Improve focus and planning

    • Feel inspired and more motivated

    • Better align yourself with your goals

    • Improve your chances of meeting goals

    • It’s creative (which is fun and expressive)

    • Work with the law of attraction and manifestation

    • Make your travel goals more memorable with a visual stimulus

    Choose a Vision Board Software

Your vision board needs a home. Luckily, we have plenty of options these days! It’s time to choose a vision board software.

If you’re new to this, don’t the word software scare you. Most are free and super easy to use. They’re essentially platforms to upload photos, organize ideas and create mood boards.

Here are some of my favorite tools for creating a travel vision board (or any board for that matter):

    • Canva. Perfect if you like more design control over your vision board.

    • Milanote. Perfect if you like mind mapping and mood boards for saving your ideas.

    • Pinterest. Perfect if you like using social media and organizing your ideas with boards.

    • mymind. Perfect if you want AI to automatically save and organize all your ideas in one central location.

Tip: If you prefer a physical travel vision board, consider grabbing a travel vision board printable.

Come Up With Travel Vision Board Ideas

I’m all for spontaneity and creative tinkering (especially if you’re not sure what you want for your vision board). But having some ideas planned will give you structure and help you create clear goals (and avoid creative ruts).

So here are some travel vision board ideas:

    • Travel bucket list

    • Dream destinations

    • Travel fashion inspiration

    • Budget planning vision board

    • Language/cultural travel goals

    • Quotes and affirmations for inspiration

    • Inspiring travel photos and travel aesthetics

You can also hop into ChatGPT (or your preferred AI) to come up with more ideas based on your travel style and your travel goals.

    Get Inspired

Okay, now that you’ve chosen a vision board home and have a theme, what now? As you stare at your blank vision board, it’s normal to start feeling lost or overwhelmed.

    What should I post first?

How do I make this thing look cool and pretty?

Why am I doing this again?

These are all normal thoughts when starting a creative project. But put those worries to rest! I’ve got you.

It’s super helpful to use examples and travel vision board templates for inspiration. For example, Canva has premade templates, Pinterest is full of ideas and travel influencers or photographer accounts can give you ideas for what to include in your travel vision board.

Collect Inspiring Photos, Quotes, Blogs and Ideas

Now it’s time to take action — your travel vision board needs to get filled. So start gathering and saving your favorite travel photos, quotes, posts, ideas and more.

Luckily, we have lots of free image libraries and platforms to download or screenshot ideas. As long as you’re not sharing pictures under your own account (without attribution) or claiming these assets as your own, pretty much anything you find is up for grabs as a personal vision board project.

Here are some places you can use to find assets for your travel vision board:

    • Pinterest

    • Unsplash

    • Pixabay

    • Travel blog posts

    • Create your own original AI images

    • Screenshot quotes from X or Threads

    • Travel influencer or photographer accounts

    • Take your own photos or create your own images

Tip: Use tools like CapCut, Canva or PREQUEL to apply filters and AI edits to make your own photos or videos way more aesthetic.

    Organize Your Ideas

Eventually, as you start collecting more assets, things may start to look a bit…messy. But staying organized will keep you focused on your goals and strategic with this whole vision board thing.

Solid organization is also a great way to uncover patterns and themes — vision boards can give you insights about what’s most important to you.

To help organize your ideas and asset, consider creating multiple vision boards with different themes and goals.

    Take Action — Go Travel!

A vision board on its own can only do so much. They’re pretty to look at and fun to make, but eventually, you’ll need to hop into the pictures and experience the quotes firsthand.

That is, you gotta take some action and actually go travel!

Whether you start small or go all in (and quit your job to travel the world), turning your vision board into reality is the exciting part.

So, where will you go first?
