Honestly, almost anywhere can be a nomadic destination depending on your budget and the visa rules.
You’ve probably seen the glamorous-looking exotic beachside locations from globe-trekking influencers flaunting their nomadic lifestyle. But not all nomad spots are sunny resorts or tiny islands with perfect wifi.
Again, I live in Japan part-time…but I rarely see Tokyo as a nomadic destination.
Just remember, wherever you’re traveling to, always check official government websites for visa entry rules and what’s allowed as a tourist. While we definitely live in the grey area as location-independent travelers/remote-workers, staying aware of international laws will help with peace of mind and avoid problems.
Because I AM NOT AN IMMIGRATION EXPERT. Please do your own research.
But in my experience, nobody ever bothers me (except when I return home, American immigration officers often ask what I was doing in Japan…which I just say travel and that I have friends there).
As long as you’re not staying in one country for years at a time (doing many visa runs back to back), you probably won’t get bothered. I talk more about visas in chapter 7.
But for inspiration of where to go, here are some popular destination for nomads:
Bali
Spain
Japan
Portugal
Panama
Thailand
Malaysia
